Olga De Troyer, Ph.D. in Computer Sciences, Full Professor at the department of Computer Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and head of the WISE (Web & Information System Engineering) research group. She has many years of experience in research in conceptual modelling, design methods and development of tool support, applied to different areas such as databases, web systems, semantic web, virtual reality, e-learning, mobile systems, serious games, and software variability. Special attention is given to semantics, usability and accessibility. Current research is focussing on design and fast prototyping tools for the realization of adaptive
serious games and innovative e-learning systems.
Olga De Troyer is promoter of 9 completed PhDs and 4 on going PhDs and published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles. She acted as external scientific advisor for different research projects and was/is promoter or co-promoter of many externally funded research projects. In the context of this proposal, the IWT-SBO project Friendly ATTAC, researching tools for developing serious games, the HOA-project Toward Cognitive Adaptive Edu-games, researching methodologies and techniques for adapting educational games to the individual learner, and the SCOUT project that developed a mobile context-aware application development framework are of high relevance.
