Vacancy for a Fully Funded PhD/Teaching Assistant Position

The WISE research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels, Belgium) is looking for a highly motivated teaching assistant/PhD student who would like to contribute to the group's research on innovative information systems, cross-media technologies and human-computer interaction under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Beat Signer.

Research

The candidate is expected to have a strong research interest in one or multiple of the following areas:

The candidate should fit into the teaching and research culture of the WISE Lab where there is a strong emphasis on conceptual modelling and design as well as the development of general frameworks and platforms for innovative information systems and human-computer interaction.

Teaching

Teaching of exercises, assisting with labs and projects in the Bachelor of Computer Science (e.g. 'Introduction to Databases' or 'Web Technologies'). Assisting with specialised courses in the Master’s programmes in Computer Science and Applied Informatics in the domain of Web & Information Systems and Data Science (e.g. 'Information Visualisation', 'Next Generation User Interfaces' or 'Advanced Topics in Information Systems') and supervision of Master’s theses. The language of instruction in the Bachelor is Dutch while it is English for all Master-level courses. Applicants are expected to have sound knowledge of the English as well as Dutch language.

Requirements

The candidate is expected to have a Master in Computer Science, Master in Mathematics with a minor or specialisation in Computer Science, or a Master in Engineering with a minor or specialisation in Computer Science. The candidate is further expected to have sound knowledge of the English as well as Dutch language.
